Ingredients
- ½ cup fresh sweet basil leaves
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 avocado
- 1 T lemon juice
- zest of one lemon
- 1 T raw Almonds
- ¼ c water (more if desired)
- 3 T nutritional yeast
- ⅓ c extra virgin olive oil
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Preparation
- Using a blender or food processor, blend basil, garlic, avocado, lemon juice, zest, almonds, water, and nutritional yeast until smooth.
- Mix in extra virgin olive oil.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Tip – for best taste eat immediately. The avocado and basil brown as they oxidize but it is still edible. The sauce is great in pasta, tossed with squash, as a spread in sandwiches or on crackers or chips!
