Lemons are so versatile.  The zest and/or juice adds a nice flavor to many dishes, such as lemon garlic chicken wings, but it’s also good for lemon water or any version of lemonade

Lemons are a good source of vitamin C. Drinking lemon water daily can boost your immune system and form collagen in your body (which promotes skin and joint health).  Lemons may also help with weight loss and improve some health issues.

The oils of lemon, contained in the peel, have been extracted to make essential oils for healing purposes. Rubbing the skin of lemons with slight force has been a better way for us to get the essential oil into our bodies. Plus, the oils are always fresh.

Lemon trees are low maintenance when planted in the ground. The tree needs good drainage whether in a pot or in the ground. When citrus trees sit in water, they are likely to get root rot and the plant will die this way. When potted, it’s a good idea to have drainage holes and add some sandy soil to improve drainage.

Lemon trees, like all citrus, need consistent and regular watering. If the soil around the lemon tree is allowed to dry out, the lemons and then the leaves of the lemon tree will fall off.

Lemon trees need food.  Compost needs to be added regularly.   Lemon trees grown in a pot especially need food to stay healthy.   We rely solely on compost, however you can purchase citrus fertilizer to feed the tree.
